Adam Edward Burkhardt, an immigrant from Bavaria, purchased a Cincinnati wholesale and retail firm in 1866 dealing in hats and furs. In May 1917, the A.E. Burkhardt Company was incorporated for the purpose of manufacturing, repairing and re-modeling furs and fur garments, storing furs, buying, selling and dealing in raw and dressed fur skins, etc. Adam E.
